Shadows grow
Sky turns gray Don’t know what we will do
When the pale light fades We got a long way to go A short while to turn Our lead into gold While the fire still burns Steel falls to rust
Great cities return to dust Our circle was made strong In the days of wine and song Now we’re driving through a maze Not knowing where to turn
We got to find our way
 While the fire still burns
We close our eyes and get lost in the dark
Wake up to find, all we have fallen apart
We can’t return to a place we never knew
Take my hand and we can build something true Hands on the wheel Hours till dawn There’s a light ahead We keep pressing on We’re still working on a dream Workin’ to discern
The lead from the gold
 While the fire still burns

Lucasville 04:02
They call me by my number Call me mad as hell So they locked me up for sixteen years inside a prison cell
Voices in my head won’t leave me alone Solitary heart buried 'neath the stone Oh mercy mercy me I’m as bound as I can be Oh mercy mercy me I am bound, but I need to be set free I’ve learned how to live with authorities and cowards I want a better day every twenty four hours
Press my face to the bars, my voice is never heard So I'm calling to my mamas, angels, cats all around the world
Behind the walls of Lucasville With criminals and thieves Them who are insane Them who hold the keys
If there be light, I pray somebody will Shine it behind the walls of Lucasville And if they set you up with two weeks of meds And let you out to starve on the high hopes you are fed
One month later, foaming at the jaw
You’ll be staring past the iron bars just like before Oh mercy mercy me I’m as bound as I can be Oh mercy mercy me I am bound, but I pray to be set free

Theres a dam on the river wide
And it keeps our tears from running to the tide It holds us dear from running to the tide In the days when I sang to you
All the words between us rang clear and true At night our love vanished into blue Time is going fast We were slaves in ages past Now no master and no thief Can rob us of our peace
We were young in the eyes of the world Your eyes told a story older still Days hurry by
We wander through the night What clock or prison bell Can wake us from this spell When the door is open wide
Like children we run away and hide And I feel you like the rain
Tiny rivers run down my face again Time is on our side
We are born on the tide No doctor can heal us now Love can show us how

Water Rising 05:05
Dream of water, rising up in a flood Under the spell of a book I read Woke me up, had to shake my head Storm drains and gutters, little rivers running to the sea Pull of the tide, full moon and mystery Stand on the edge, and get the gravity
Seen water rising up Seen water pouring down Seen water all around In the morning, the sky was dark Went outside, tried to build an ark Called to my love and she was losing heart The sky opened up, watched it fall
For forty nights, we did the crawl
Made for higher ground, but someone built wall Seen the water rising up Seen water pouring down Seen water all around Oh mama, nowhere to run After the flood, the land was spent
People starving and thirsting, every place I went The proud and the mighty sleeping in a tent Ground cried, started to shake
There was nothing to give, nothing left to take I saw a man, he was fixing to break Seen a man rising up Seen a man sinking down Seen that man all around Oh mama ain't no where to run Now everybody I meet keeps having this dream Whole world come apart at the seams Nothing is really what it seems Its time to dig, expose the foundation Spread the word, the revelation Time to get up, people get up See my people rising up Seen my people stand their ground Seen my people all around Oh mama ain’t nowhere to run Now you see the signs like clothes on the line Nothing is hidden, there’s no place to hide Gotta walk the line between the dark and the light Seen the sun rising up
Seen the sun sinking low Seen the darkness all around Oh mama nowhere to run Seen water rising… ...Oh mama, gotta stand our ground
